My friend Gina, who manages Tommy Emmanuel, gave me a nice surprise by posting this on YouTube…Check it out!

It was filmed at Dosey Doe in Houston, Texas this last fall when I was touring with Tommy.

I guess you could say that the creation of “Omnivia” is the result of my watching one too many drug commercials

Tommy Emmanuel Midwest PBS Tour – Day Four

Today, I’m drinking tea, gazing down upon the strong deep currents of the Mississippi River, and looking up at the massive gleaming arch on its banks. For the geographically inclined, you guessed it…I’m in St. Louis.

The days since Austin have been a whirling cyclone of travel, with the eye being the shows themselves, all amazing, and filled with magical moments. We’ve been to Champaign, Illinois, then to Peoria; Troy, Michigan and Cleveland, Ohio.

Anthony and I share the first half of the concert, he going on first, then my joining him for a co-written song called Beautiful World. Then Tommy comes on and by the end of the evening, the audience is totally captivated…I cannot say enough about his mastery of the guitar…but being the writer I am, you know I will try, in the course of these journals.

Before closing today, I will share a Dream Come True with you…a while back, Tommy had remarked that he’d like Anthony and I to join him in an instrumental trio, to play a song from the PBS Special, called “Wonderful World”. Being mostly humbled, and a wee bit apprehensive (to perform with Tommy as instrumentalists), we hit the woodshed, and have made our debut successfully! What a landmark for both of us!!

More later, as I have the chance, and as our little cyclone and merry band of travelers moves across the Midwest.

Tommy Emmanuel Midwest PBS Tour – Day Three

I have some really good news to report. As many of you read, Entry 1 and 2 were from Austin where I did a show for Keller Williams. They asked me to sign some lyric sheets that were to be auctioned off for a charity. Here is what came back to me just days ago from Vickie in Gary’s office:

“I just had to share some wonderful news. Remember those “My Life” lyric sheets you signed so that we could auction them off to benefit our charity – specifically, to help raise money for The Will Norton Memorial Fund? This fund will help to build a baseball field for children with special needs in Joplin, as a tribute to Will’s life and love for baseball. Will was the son of a KW agent who was tragically killed on his way home from his high school graduation by the massive tornado that struck Joplin this past spring.

Each of your 20 signed lyric sheets were auctioned off for $600 a piece! We raised approx $12,000 for this fund from your willingness to sign those inspirational lyric sheets for us. How amazing is that?! We are so incredibly grateful and thrilled – thank you so much! ”

Tommy Emmanuel Midwest PBS Tour – Day Two

I will start with the bad news, of which there is very little, and the whole of it was that my wake-up call came at 5:30…AM. It was dark, and as many of you know, I have a problem being up when birds are not.

This was swiftly and powerfully counter-acted by the fact that I was chosen by Gary Keller of Keller Williams Realty to kick off their annual training and inspirational event at the Austin Convention Center.

I walked out on stage with Gary to the thunderous applause of 3,000 people, whom he asked to open their folders and take out the lyric sheet to “My Life”. He announced that it was his new favorite song, that he played it every morning to start his day, and that it was now the KW inspirational theme song. I sang it through, we talked, and then he asked me to play it again so that everyone could sing along. Feeling ever blessed, and a bit overcome, I sang it through, letting the crowd sing the last chorus. Thanks to Gerald and Catt, my co-writers for an amazing song.

Today, I am happy to beat the birds (not in a violent way…you know what I mean)

Tommy Emmanuel Midwest PBS Tour – Day One

Today I am in Austin, where it’s hot as Hell, watching the local News before soundcheck…the big Headline is the Lamb Heist.

Yes, you read correctly 6000 lambs…gone….stolen.

They’ve tried to catch the thieves, but no luck so far Guess they’re ‘on the lamb’.

You would not hear this story anywhere else….for that and many other reasons, I do love Texas. As I’m watching TV at day’s end, in between network shows, the news station had a short clip of the local sheriff saying he did not believe that the lamb heist was motivated by money.

I go to sleep, wondering…what, then Was the motivation for stealing 6000 lambs?
